This summer has been filled with fun and excitement for the children at the Ranch. In addition to the hundreds of campers who had tremendous experiences, our year round residents were blessed with fun and growth. The words that describe what I witnessed repeatedly are “positive progress.”
At our last staff meeting five students were promoted in our levels system. When new students arrive, they all begin at level one. Learning new routines and responsibilities they earn trust. Saying “yes ma’am” and “no ma’am,” doing their own laundry, and displaying obedience and truthfulness are essential for promotion. Three students were promoted to level two. Two students were promoted to level three. That’s tremendous. The final level is level four.
The work we do is an investment in the future. Some children make great progress here. Some struggle to trust and get in gear. Over time we see many positive changes. Still, our goal reaches far beyond their time here. We are continually seeking to point them to the One who will never fail them, never forsake them. We want them to trust Jesus, the Way, the Truth and the Life. That is a relationship that will never end.
