From WVR Founder, Jim Wood

After more than 30 years of dealing with the children and staff of Wears Valley Ranch, I continue to be moved by the amazing power of God’s love. Children who have experienced trauma of various kinds are met with the persistent power of love that is patient and kind. The love that comes from God is sacrificial, unselfish, and unconditional.

Our staff is made up of individuals who have been, and are being, changed by God’s love in their own lives. Every life has its own story and every one has its own pain. Jesus brings beauty out of ashes and new life where once there was no visible hope. Once we have surrendered our lives to Jesus, he begins to express his love through us to others.

In our chapel services we have been studying the Gospel of John. Jesus told his disciples that this is the identifying evidence by which his followers are recognized,

A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another. John 13:34-35

John goes on to develop this in great detail in his first letter, chapters three and four. He includes these words,

And so we know and rely on the love God has for us.

God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them. This is how love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgment: In this world we are like Jesus. There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.

We love because he first loved us. 1 John 4:16-19

Your generous and faithful support empowers us to display God’s love in tangible ways to these children. Please continue to pray for us. Please continue to give so that we can provide for these children. God’s love is changing lives. Thank you for being his instrument.
