What a glorious time of year. The flowers are bursting into bloom on the sides of the mountains and on the valley floor. The weather is warming and the hours of sun are lengthening. I love this season!

Susan and I plan to travel with our graduating seniors to Washington DC in early April. We always enjoy the senior trip with focused time to spend with our students as they are about to launch. Over the years it has been the first time for many to see the federal government buildings that still belong to the citizens of this country. It is a wonderful time to recall our amazing history and thank God for his extraordinary blessings on this land. It is also an opportunity to remember the costly sacrifice of past generations who bled and died to win and preserve our freedoms.

Far more wonderful is the celebration of the Gospel. The death, burial and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ brought eternal salvation to all who believe. Hallelujah! God willing, we will celebrate Resurrection Sunday in one of the churches near the Capitol Building where the Gospel is still proclaimed each week.

Here at home, there is a wonderful excitement among many of our students about what God is doing in their lives. One of our seniors asked if in celebration of her 18th birthday we could have a special time of worship in the chapel. Favorite songs were sung to the Lord and her friends read favorite scriptures. There was a marvelous atmosphere of unselfconscious joy in the Lord.

I don’t know what the short term future holds for these students, or for our country, or for the nations. I do know that one day there will be a reckoning for all people before the throne of Almighty God. Those who have received new life in Christ will be rejoicing. Those who have refused to surrender to his Lordship will face destruction. And every knee will bow. Every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord! I pray that all of you will trust him now. Please keep praying for us as we continue to point these precious young people to him.

Depending on Him,
