“An answer to a promise.”
Dave and Laurie Hix have served as Houseparents to boys at the Ranch since 2015. With them has been their adopted son, Elijah. The Hixes had adopted 2 older children when Laurie received a promise from God. Even though they were unable to have biological children, they would one day have a baby. Later, they joyfully welcomed Elijah into their family. During Elijah’s graduation, his dad emotionally shared a bedtime routine of saying, “I love you. God loves you more. Sleep tight and don’t let the bed bugs bite.” Then they would pray together. “I hope you always sleep tight knowing that God loves you and has provided His peace, His grace for you,” said Mr. Dave to Elijah at graduation. It has been a blessing to have Elijah on our campus. He has shared his parents with other kids, many from difficult situations. Elijah is planning to move away to college in the fall.
