Hannah Nicholson

Math Teacher

Hannah grew up in Orlando, Florida, but was born in South Africa because her parents were missionaries in Lesotho at the time.  She lived in Lesotho until she was three years old, but then her family moved back to the States.
She graduated from Asbury University in Kentucky with a bachelor’s degree in Equine Studies and an emphasis in Business Management.  She worked at numerous camps before coming to the Ranch right after graduation in December 2014. Since then she has worked at the Ranch off and on in numerous roles, with a three month break to work at a horse farm in New Zealand that worked with at risk kids, and another year or so break to work at an equine grief counseling ministry in Maryville, Tennessee.
Hannah heard about the Ranch from one of her college professors who was familiar with the the ministry. When she looked up the website and heard more about it, she knew it was exactly the kind of place she wanted to work. She graduated a semester early and ended up coming straight to the Ranch to work a month later.
Despite the fact that her educational background is in equine, she has always had a love for math and physics. Her dad was an engineering physics major and both he and her mom taught math while serving in Africa. Growing up her dad would sit down and help her with her math homework, and it made sense when he explained it, so she grew to love it!  Hannah wants to do that for her students now. They may not end up loving math, but she wants them to feel that it is something achievable, and that they can succeed even if it isn’t their favorite subject. Her goal is to make learning math and physics fun!
“God has placed me here and I look forward to seeing how he uses me at the Ranch in the months and years to come.”
