Covenant Community Church of Wears Valley joined forces with the staff and children at Wears Valley Ranch to read the entire Bible from Genesis to Revelation in less than one week. This is the fifth consecutive year the relay has been held at the Chapel at Wears Valley Ranch.

Beginning on Saturday morning, January 21st at 7 am, individuals read 20-minute slots before passing the reading on to another. Pausing only for regularly scheduled worship activities in the Chapel, reading continued until 7 pm. The finale came on Friday, January 27th at approximately 1:30 pm. Those who were able to join from the church met with Wears Valley Ranch staff and students at 1:00 pm to hear the ending chapters of Revelation read, then reading the final chapter aloud as a group.

Brian McDonnell, COO of Wears Valley Ranch and Elder of Covenant Community Church, plays a pivotal role in organizing this event each year. “When we read the Bible through from cover to cover, we affirm that all of Scripture is God-breathed and useful. We may better see how the entirety of Scripture fits together,” says McDonnell. “We also grapple with difficult passages and grow in our own understanding.”

An optional addition to your project may include providing a live stream so others can join and read along. For the staff and children at the Ranch, this is helpful to encourage families to see their loved one and read with them. We pray this may encourage those who watch in their walk with Jesus.
