Dear friends,

This is the season of giving! Thoughtful and generous gifts are exchanged with family and friends. Charitable donations surge at year end. Merchants and ministries seek to make the most of this annual opportunity. For many of us it is “make or break” time.

In the midst of the hype and pressure, we cling to the message of the gift that birthed the tradition. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son…”

Such a miraculous treasure was wrapped in swaddling clothes and small enough to hold in human hands. No gift has ever been so great. God’s gift of Himself to sinners was more amazing than we can comprehend because God knew what would happen. The prophet had said, “He was despised and rejected, a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief.” And so, “He came unto His own and His own received Him not.”

Here at the Ranch we have had a year of blessing and challenges. We have celebrated 25 years of caring for children in this beautiful place. We have enjoyed visits from former students and staff and hearing from many more. We have admitted new students who clearly need to be here and said goodbye to some who moved on.

Financially, we always pray for an amazing year end miracle. And year after year we are reminded that only God can sustain us. This year the drama has intensified because after an encouraging October we have had a dismal November. Only God can give us what is needed in December. And God uses friends like you who care about these children to provide the miracles we need.

I don’t know your particular situation. None of us can give what we don’t have. But out of what we have, I urge you to give prayerfully, generously and joyfully.

Remembering His Gift,

Wears Valley Ranch
