Mentors/Internships at Wears Valley Ranch

He answered, “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’; and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’” Luke 10:27

In a culture that has twisted the meaning of love to include a love of selfishness, rebellion and sin, the Ranch welcomes a group of young adults who are swimming against that current. Young adults come to the Ranch to live in the homes with children in crisis and serve alongside Houseparents. This role requires humility and surrender to the authority of the Lord. These attributes are counter-cultural in much of today’s society. Yet, the heart of a Mentor is in line with the words of Jesus in Luke 10:27.

Those who serve here share that it is a life-changing experience that deepens their relationship with the Lord and equips them for many areas of life after the Ranch. “Being a mentor on the Ranch has taught me to depend on the Lord in countless ways, and I’m thankful for God’s kindness through it all,” shares Miss Abby. Miss Jess is pictured here with “L” who joined us this spring. “While I have only been a mentor at the Ranch a short time, I have loved getting to work with the boys in Christopher House. I’ve known for some time that the Lord placed working with children in a special place in my heart. He has blessed me in allowing me to see this part of His plan out at WVR. I am grateful to be able to play a small role in these boys’ walk with the Lord and I am excited to hear about how He will continue to work in their lives.”

Mentors can gain internships and typically serve 1-2 years as they live alongside the children at the Ranch. Young men and women leave with a greater concept of serving others and knowledge of the Lord.
