“…He will reign on the throne of David and over his kingdom,
to establish and sustain it with justice and righteousness from now on and forever.”
– from Isaiah 9:1-7
As we prepare to celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior, we thought we’d share with you a poem Pastor Wood wrote several years ago. We hope it will be a blessing to you!
Incarnation
-by Jim Wood
Shrouded in mystery
Hidden thru ages
Pondered by mystics and
Sought by the sages
Where can we find Him?
Who may approach Him?
What is the Path
That leads us to God?
“Behold in the East – a Star!”
The heavens revealing
Come, but come kneeling
See the Almighty
Wrapped up . . . in a child
The light has come shining
Piercing the night
But see as the seekers
Run from His sight
The children are drawn
By the warmth of His love
And the promise confirmed
On the wings of a dove
But the wise become fools
As they argue and lie
And the ones whom He loved
Watch the perfect One die
“This is my body which is broken for you!”
Oh the confusion
How can it be
Perfection is dead
And the guilty go free
Then out of the shadows
Shines the true light
Darkness is shattered
The room has grown bright
The Way to the Father
Is open to all
“Come all who are thirsty”
I hear His voice call
Where can we find Him?
Who may approach Him?
What is the path
That leads us to God?
We are His Body!
“For as much as ye do
For the least of my brothers
Is done for me, too”
So come to the table
Find mercy and grace
In the child, at the altar
In the Father’s embrace
