Students at Saint Andrew’s School of Wears Valley Ranch have a unique opportunity to sign up for elective mini-courses during the weeks between their Thanksgiving and Christmas breaks. Staff and volunteers select topics of expertise to lead courses that provide fun and useful skills. Topics include art, geocaching, physical fitness and more.

One course offered this year was titled “Hire Me.” Students were taught job interview and resume’ writing skills. The highlight of the class was going to a local business for a “mock” interview.

Robin Kurtz, Assistant Vice President and Director of Marketing held mock interviews for five teenagers from the school. Feedback was provided to each student to help the build in weak areas and encourage their strengths. Most of all, the students had the opportunity to experience an interview and gain confidence for the when the interview is real. Following the interviews, Kurtz treated the students to a “behind the scenes tour” of the bank’s corporate office in Pigeon Forge. Tennessee State Bank has been serving Sevier County since 1972. The bank has a long history of community service and is FDIC Insured.

The Ranch is grateful to all those who helped teach unique, fun and interesting courses. It is encouraging to see many committed individuals coming together to help us toward our vision: To see each child INSPIRED to follow Christ, HEALED from their past, and EQUIPPED to reach their full potential.
